The Public Enterprise Selection Board has shorlisted Anupam Shrivastava for the post of Chairman and Managing Director of state-run telecom firm BSNL.
"PESB recommended the following name for the post of Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited - Anupam Shrivastava," said the board's website.
Shrivastava has been BSNL's Director for Consumer Mobility division since May this year.
Shrivastava will have challenge to turn BSNL profitable by 2018 under the planned chalked out under present CMD R K Upadhyay.
BSNL has been logging losses since 2009-10. The company's profits started declining after 2004-05, when it had made net gains of Rs 10,183 crore.
Upadhyay was selected in 2011 through search-cum- selection committee recommended by panel headed by Advisor to Prime Minister Sam Pitroda for revival of the PSU with an option of further extension.
Upadhyay tenure of three years ends in April 2014. Under him, BSNL has been able arrest its losses that it had been posting since 2009-10.

He is a 1981 batch ITS officer. He has done his BE (Electronics and Telecom) and MBA (Marketing) from Jabalpur.
