Petrochem, mining new investment mantras

The state government has urged corporate houses to look at opportunities in the downstream of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd, said chief minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 17th Industrial India Trade Fair (IITF) Bhattacharya said, the state government was also hopeful that investments would flow into the mining sector as the state would release a new mining policy in a few days.

The minister said, the state would encourage dereservation in mining sector especially granite and rock phosphate. This year, the partner country was Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Do Nhu Dinh, vice minister of trade Socialist Republic of Vietnam said, the people and government of Vietnam had always upheld the traditional and friendship relation with the people and the government of India.

"This relation has been developed into multi-faceted co-operation with the forefront of business interaction. Reflecting this trend, the leaders of Vietnam and India have concerted their efforts in accelerating the process of economic and business interaction between the two countries" he said.

Abdul Awal Mintoo, president The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry emphasised on the need for bilateral trade between Bangladesh and India. He further added, "We should promote regional co-operation".
