Petronet, PFC, Sonata quarterly results

State-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC), which was recently accorded the navratna status, has more than doubled its net profit during the first quarter of 2007-08 (April-June) to Rs 309 crore, compared with Rs 152 crore in the same period last year. Total income was up 35.58 per cent to Rs 1,145.81 crore (Rs 845.14 crore).Earnings per share for the quarter was Rs 2.69.
 
The numbers, which were announced during the market hours, led to a rally in the stock, which touched a 52-week high at Rs 199.90 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The share closed Rs 20 higher on Monday at Rs 195.80 at the BSE.

Sonata PAT jumps 46%
 
Sonata Software has reported a 46 per cent increase in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 14 crore for the quarter ended June 30 compared with the previous comparable quarter. Its consolidated revenue at Rs 351.9 crore jumped 225 per cent.
 
The company's performance during the quarter was mainly driven by Germany-based TUI InfoTec, the company in which Sonata had acquired a majority stake during the previous financial year. TUI InfoTec GmbH contributed Rs 149 crore to its top line and Rs 5.36 crore to the bottom line in the quarter.
