Pharmaceutical packaging company Schott Kaisha is investing 15 million Euros (about Rs 110 crore) to expand its existing facility and set up a new unit to manufacture ampoules, vials and syringes.
"Overall we see the pharmaceutical industry in India growing at 15-20%. Many Indian companies are aggressively exporting to the US and the western world and this increases their requirement for top class packaging products," Schott Kaisha managing director Kairus Dadachanji said.
Schott Kaisha is an Indo German joint venture and has two plants in Daman and in Jambusar near Vadodara.
Dadachanji said the company will invest 15 million Euros to expand the existing facility in Jambusar to manufacture ampoules and vials and set up a new plant in Daman to produce syringes and cartridges.
Construction work will begin in six weeks and the new facility will be ready in eighteen months. The plant expansion will increase production of ampoules and vials by 30%.
The company is seeing growth in exports too with South Africa and Mexico being its main markets. Exports contribute about 25% of its sales.
