Consumer electronics manufacturer Philips India Ltd has launched its Light Emitting Diodes (LED) based lighting range in Pune. |
Marketing director of the company's Lighting Division Mathew Job said that the products on offer initially will be in the area of home decoration and a limited amount of convenience lighting as well. |

He added that Philips would bank on the rising awareness among consumers about the need to use eco-friendly and energy saving lighting in their homes. |

The LED range of products include LED Candle, LED Nitelite, LED Flash Light and Imageo, priced from Rs 350 upwards. |

LED technology had advantages such as low power consumption and simplicity of design. |

"Prior to this, the company has handled decorative lighting for commercial projects and now the promise of 'no ultra-violet rays' is being extended to home users as well," Job said. |

The LED products have been manufactured the company's facilities in Europe and China and will be displayed in 2000 Philips showrooms in the country and select retail outlets. |
