Meanwhile, big fertiliser companies like Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., a public sector undertaking, has set up a target of producing 10 lakh ton of SSP fertiliser this fiscal through buy-outs and tie-up arrangements, sources in the company said.

RCF does not market SSP at present.

According to the notification, the ten units will not only be eligible to avail subsidy of Rs 3,658 and Rs 5,630, depending on their usage of domestic or imported rock phosphate, but also market the fertilisers produced by smaller units under their brand name.

In West Bengal, SSP fertilisers are widely used in tea gardens.
