Pioneer inks pact with Prasad Seeds

Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc, the wholly-owned subsidiary of global science-based products and services company DuPont, has entered into an agreement to work with a new production plant in Medchal near Hyderabad.
 
This new facility is owned and operated by Prasad Seeds. The plant offers drying and conditioning capacity for the substantial increase in production "� to accommodate the growing farmer demand for seed corn "� this season.
 
In a press release on Friday, Don Miles, director (supply operations), Pioneer, stated that bulk trials were conducted at the plant, and the equipment performance was within the Pioneer standards for high-quality seed production.
 
"The double pass drier can accommodate 960 metric tonnes of ear corn, and has already started receiving wet cobs from the field. The plant is expected to dry 3,500-4,000 metric tonnes of corn seed this season.
 
The facility will also have the ability to dry hybrid rice seed and condition, treat and package rice, corn and pearl millet seed," he added.
