Ford India today said that its proposal to introduce a small car by 2010 was 'on track' and that it would be launched it as per schedule.
"The small car from Ford is on track and we are expecting it to launch by early 2010" Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham told reporters at the inauguration of the annual convention on 'Navigating Uncertain Times,' organised by the Madras Management Association.
Declining to give out its price, he said it would be available in petrol and diesel versions and be more than 1,000 CC. The car would satisfy the government's 'requirements' and be 'highly competitive' once launched, he said.
To a query, he said Ford would export the car to Asia Pacific and African countries by 2010-11.
He said the investments of $500 million last year would not be affected by the current global economic slowdown and assured that plans would proceed as per schedule."We will work with those vendors who have supported us in the past" he said.
Earlier in his inaugural address Boneham said that for any multinational company 'Corporate Intelligence' plays a vital role, especially during an economic downturn.
