Planet Connect to link Punjab with showrooms

Connect from HFCL is on an expansion spree, setting up its Planet Connect showrooms in Chandigarh and Punjab. The company plans to open a total of 130 showrooms in Punjab.
 
Planet Connect showrooms, which offer a host of services under one roof, are company-owned outlets outsourced to franchisees. Speaking to Business Standard, the company's Chief Executive Officer Surendra Lunia said the outlets were windows to the wide range of services the company gave its subscribers.
 
The outlets will have customer care and bill payments centres, surfing station at speeds upto 1 mbps with Connect broadband, exclusive gaming stations, video conferencing stations and computer and peripheral handsets and accessories.
 
Connect already has outlets in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Amritsar, Bathinda and Mandi Gobindgarh.
 
"In the next phase of expansion, we are looking at second-tier cities like Sangrur, Phagwara, Hoshiarpur, Barnala," stated Lunia. He added that ideally the outlet requirement varied from 1,800-2,400 square feet with an investment of Rs 2000 per sq feet.
 
The WLL mobile service provider in the region with a base of 70,000 subscribers is also going to provide SMS service to its subsciber by the month-end.
 
"Work on the SMSC platform and integration has been done, though the interconnect agreement with other operators is taking place,"informed Jayant Keswani, the company's associate vice-president, marketing.
