Polymed to set up Rs 10 crore plant in Jaipur

The Polymed group, one of the fastest-growing groups in the Rs 7,000-crore medical disposable sector, has announced the setting up of an over Rs 10 crore plant in Biotech Park in Jaipur under a new company, Vitromed Healthcare.
 
The park will be spread over 11,000 square metres with 50,000 square feet of construction area in the first phase based on natural medicinal plants extracts.
 
"Vitromed Healthcare's plant shall focus on nutraceutical and skin products based on aloe vera. The company has signed an exclusive agreement with Vitro Naturals of USA and Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants for technology transfer for mosquito spray, mosquito cream, and disinfectant for medical use, which will be completely based on medicinal plants without any chemicals," said Himanshu Baid, managing director, Polymedicure Ltd, while sharing the business plans of his new venture.
 
"The products will be produced and exported to Europe and the US with the Polymed group's network, which is spread across almost 50 countries," Baid said. "We plan to export around 75 per cent of our production."
 
The Polymed group is one of the leading manufacturers of medical devices and disposables under the brand name Polymed. Established in 1995, the company today has a turnover of around Rs 90 crore.
 
Polymed has manufacturing facilities in Ballabgarh, Haridwar and a joint venture in Egypt. The company has also acquired a US company to cater to the burgeoning demand in the US market.
 
"The acquisition has given us an impetus in the export market and we are positive that Polymed will increase its US business operations to $8 million in the next 3 years as a result of this acquisition. The company's export drive has also given its products a quality orientation by exposure to international quality standards of acceptance," added Baid.
 
The group is also targeting domestic growth of 30-40 per cent in the next 4-5 years, when overall growth of the industry is 10-15 per cent.
 
Polymed manufactures 40 different products like IV cannulaes, infusion therapy devices, central venous access catheters, anaesthesia, blood management devices and other surgical products.
