Poonam Industries MD 'absconding'

Suresh Agrawal, the managing director of Poonam Industries Ltd and his wife Anju Agrawal, have been declared absconders by the city police.

Suresh Agrawal, who owned the Kunvar Ajay Sarees, was accused of duping almost 45 textile traders to the tune of Rs 1.78 crore. A complaint was lodged against him with Salabatpura police on April 1.

Suresh Agrawal's wife Anju Agrawal (one of the directors of Poonam Industries Ltd.), and three others were also named in the complaint.

Police failed to find the accused when they searched the Kunvar Ajay showroom and Agrawal's residence at Ghoddod Road.

Commissioner of Police Vineet Kumar Gupta declared Agrawals absconders after the police conducted raids Agrawal's home town in Rajasthan. Orders to this effect were issued on Sunday.

Meanwhile, investigating officer B V Ramani, has appealed to the citizens to contact Salabatpura Police or the Police Control Room, if they have any information regarding the whereabouts of Agrawals.
