Nearly 100 hectares of land in the greenfield operational SEZ at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh will be developed by the state, eyeing an investment of Rs 500 crore, a top official said today.

"The state government's Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN) will develop the 100 hectares (of the SEZ in adjoining Dhar district of MP)," SEZ Development Commissioner A K Rathore told PTI.

"About 400 acres, out of the total 1,100 hectares land of SEZ was developed, in which an investment of Rs 2,200 crore had been made. Now we are going to develop 100 hectares of land, in which an investment of Rs 500 crore is expected," he said.

At present, around 30 units were operational in the special economic zone (SEZ) and ten more new units were coming up, he said.

Rathore said the export from SEZ in the first six months of this financial year has climbed to Rs 564 crore, which was 204 per cent higher to what it was between the same period in the last financial year.

"We are expecting that the export from SEZ this financial year will touch 1,000-crore mark," Rathore said.
