The 4-hour daily power cut in Hyderabad is causing hardships to industry and businesses. Industrial units in and around the city have almost stopped work in one shift, according to Suraj Prasad Agarwal, president, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The industrial sector is already witnessing a 50 per cent decline in productivity due to the recession with many of them losing orders, he said, adding the units were forced to lower production targets for this quarter due to the power crisis.
The industry has urged the government not to collect the monthly minimum energy and demand charges and instead levy on actual energy consumption. The government should allow captive power generation and withdraw 25 paise electricity duty , he said in a release.
