Prime Focus buys 2 N. American firms for $43mnBS Reporter / Mumbai November 29, 2007Mumbai-based Prime Focus, a post-production and visual effects service company, has acquired Post Logic Studios and Frantic Films VFX, based in North America, for $43 million.Post Logic Studios has offices in Hollywood and New York, whereas Frantic Films has offices in Los Angeles, Winnipeg and Vancouver.According to an official release issued by the company to the BSE today, these acquisitions will give Prime Focus, which currently has six visual effects and post-production facilities across India and four facilities in London, a global footprint.The company will also get rights over 55,000 square feet of prime real estate in the heart of Hollywood, and a talent pool of 200 new staff members. It will also give the group access to the R&D division of Frantic Films, which develops and markets visual effects software solutions. Frantic films has worked on Hollywood films like Fantastic Four:The Rise of the Silver Surfer, Grindhouse, Superman Returns, Poseidon and X-Men-3.In September this year, Prime Focus acquired Ronnie Screwvala-promoted UTV Software Communications
