Teamlease Services Pvt Ltd, a pan-India staffing company and which manages four employment exchanges in the state, has managed to place 7,398 candidates of the 15,000 candidates registered at the exchanges that it manages.

Teamlease has been operating the exchanges for about two years now, having won the contract to operate the existing exchanges in the state.

“The exchanges, earlier run by the government, had been wanting in their abilities to employ the registered candidates,” said a high ranking government official.

Since taking over the employment exchanges, the firm has upgraded four district employment exchanges. There are seven operational exchanges in the state in all today. “It’s a reverse model where the investment is made by Teamlease and is also in charge of the training, curriculum, placements and everything else that the Karnataka Employment Centre (KEC) was meant to do,” said Neeti Sharma, vice-president at Teamlease Services.

The KEC was set up in 2010, and was expected to deliver services covering registration, assessment, counselling, training, certification and placement. The nodal partner agencies on the government side for the initiative are the Department of Employment and Training, and Karnataka Vocational Training & Skills Development Corporation.
