As the court appointed liquidator on Wednesday visited Dunlop's Sahagunj factory for the first time, the company also started clearing the dues of the workers of the plant to win back the confidence of the unions.

All 858 workers of the Sahaganj factory were paid one month’s wages amounting about Rs 45 lakhs.

The company officials claimed, it was yet to pay salaries for one more month to the workers, which would be paid soon.

Seeking a stay on the single judge bench order that appointed a provisional liquidator in Dunlop, the beleaguered tyre-maker had yesterday told the Divison Bench of the Calcutta High Court that it iwould reopen its manufacturing unit in Hooghly’s Sahaganj within a week.

However, the state government asked the company to clear the dues of the workers in the first step of reopening the plant.

The court appointed liquidator also on Wednesday visited the Sahagunj factory for the first time.

The court said the provisional liquidator would work as a special officer and make an inventory of the assets in the company.
