Farmers, who have put a tent outside the main gate of the office, said they plan to demonstrate peacefully. "The agitation will continue until the management agrees to clear the outstanding dues. We do not intend to disturb the general public by blocking the road", said Nitin Tyagi, chairman of the local Maliyana Cane Union, a union with members who supply sugarcane to the mill.
No initiative of any dialogue has come from the management so far, he added.
Meanwhile, the agitation of farmers at the Kinauni mill near Meerut is continuing uninterrupted since June 1.
Shishir Bajaj promoted Bajaj Hindusthan runs 14 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh and is the country's largest sugar producing company. Farmers are demanding a price of Rs 125-130 a quintal for the 2007-08 season (October-September), which was declared by the state government even though a price of Rs 110 a quintal was declared by the Allahabad High Court and upheld by the Supreme Court.
Farmers added that while the Supreme Court had directed the mills to pay Rs 118 a quintal, only for those quantities for which payments had not been made till then, Kinauni re-adjusted all prices to Rs 118.
