Punjab today invited Tata Motors to make the state its home for manufacturing the world's cheapest car Nano, promising all possible facilities that the car maker needed.

The invitation is among many that the Tata group company has received from various states after its Chairman Ratan Tata threatened to exit Singur, where the Nano project site is besieged by protests and violence for over a year now.

"I will soon write an offer letter to Tata to formally invite the group to install its Nano plant in Punjab, for which every possible facility will be provided by the state government", state Industry Minister Manoranjan Kalia told PTI.

A delegation of Tata group would be invited for a formal meeting with the state Chief Minister, so that every aspect of the proposed plant could be discussed, he said and added that this was an opportunity for bringing ancillary auto parts makers to the state.

Asked if the state had any land to offer to Tatas, Kalia said land would not be a problem and that the state would make one of the best available offers to Tata. Once the offer was discussed in a threadbare manner, every issue would be sorted out.
