QCI to launch professional membership scheme

Aimed towards diffusion of quality in critical sectors like healthcare, education, public services and micro, small and medium enterprises, The Quality Council of India (QCI) is going to launch a professional membership scheme which will act as a platform for the exchange of ideas, information, experiences amongst quality professionals and organisations with the aim of promoting quality within the country. Subsequently, it is planning to form a chapter having a member base of 50-60 professionals across the country.

Speaking to Business Standard, National Board for Quality Promotion, QCI Chairman K C Mehra said, “At the moment, we are in the process of finalising the scheme. The membership scheme would be open for both individuals and organisations. Also, the membership scheme to have a structure of network of self-managed chapters work towards common goal of quality for National well-being. We are planning to open such a chapter in Mohali (Punjab) at PTU’s Gian Jyoti School of TQM and Entrepreneurship, followed by rest of India. Each chapter will act as an empowered centre of QCI where members will network and organise activities including monthly round tables, seminars, programmes to promote quality in various domains of Industry, healthcare, education and public services.” He was in the city and spoke to Business Standard on the sidelines of the Seventh North-West QualTech Awards at Mohali (PTU Gian Jyoti School for TQM and Entrepreneurship).

He added, “An organisational member can make a request to form a Chapter. A Chapter should have a minimum of 50 members. Further, the members within the Chapter can belong to different sectors like Industry, Healthcare, and Education as organisational or individual basis”. He said, 140 members have already shown interest across the nations for becoming members.
