California-based Quixey, a company that offers mobile application search engine service, is acquiring Dexetra Software Solutions, a Bangalore-based start-up that has developed voice-based personal assistance app for Android. Reports in the media values the deal between $3 million and $10 million. Quixey is backed by Chinese e-commerce behemoth Alibaba Group. The company plans to open an office in Bangalore and absorb Dexetra's 15 employees.
Intel Cap invests in 16 start-ups
Intel Capital, Intel Corporation's global investment organisation, last week announced investments in 16 technology companies. Totaling $62 million, the investments cover a broad spectrum of innovative technologies.
"Intel Capital invests in the technology continuum that runs from wearables and the Internet of Things to big data analytics - and everything in between, including silicon, smart devices, personal computers, the cloud and datacenters," said Arvind Sodhani, president, Intel Capital and Intel executive vice-president.
Citrix shortlists 10 start-ups
Citrix Innovator's Program, launched in India in August, has shortlisted 10 start-ups that will be incubated at its office in Bengaluru. Under the three-month residency programme, entrepreneurial teams will be mentored by business executives, industry leaders and venture capital investors. According to Citrix's website, selected start-ups are awarded a $25,000 cash grant. The company didn't share the names of the selected start-ups.
