Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG) has proposed to invest about Rs 54,000 crore in Orissa, including the ambitious 12,000 MW Hirma power project.R-ADAG chief Anil Ambani is likely to discuss the Rs 48,000 crore Hirma power project when he meets state chief minister Naveen Patnaik here tomorrow.Ambani is scheduled to meet Patnaik tomorrow morning, after which the two are likely to address a joint press conference, state government sources said.Reliance Energy has already discussed the proposed coal-fired project with the Union Power Ministry, Planning Commission as well as the state government, sources said.The company had initially discussed the proposal with the state government last year when REL director Satish Seth gave a presentation to top officials.If approved, this would be the world's largest coal-fired project. This would also be one of the largest investments by a company in the state. South Korea's Posco and world's largest steel maker Mittal Steel have both proposed to set up mega steel plants with an investment of more than Rs 40,000 crore each.Sources said Reliance has also proposed to set up an information technology institute and an e-governance project in the state.
