R Systems International is looking to consolidate its recent acquisition of WebConverse in the US and the tie-up with the Japanese company Aisel by expanding its operations in India.

The company has applied for land in Noida to set up a campus which will house a development centre and a housing society for its employees. The company has lined up a capital expenditure of Rs 20 crore for its plans.

The company has development centres at Pune and Chennai besides the one in Noida. It also has a development centre each in the US and Singapore.

"We have applied to the Noida Development Authority for the land which has not yet been allotted to us. We are looking to buy the land in Noida itself, but if we don't get land there then we will look for land in Greater Noida and Faridabad area. However, the expansion plans are definitely in place," a source said.

The Noida authority allots land by lots. R Systems did not figure in the list of major IT companies which were offered land in the latest allotment last week.

"The campus, we plan to build, will have a have housing societies for our employees besides a development centre. It will also house community centres and playgrounds," said R Systems CEO Rekhi Singh.

"If we get land outside Noida, the housing society may also be offered to people who are not employees of our company. If the campus comes up in Noida, the society would be for company employees only," he added.

The company's current headcount in Noida is 1,000, including its IT and BPO staff. Its global headcount is 1,800. The company recently got the ISO 27001 standard which is linked to information security. The standard protects customers' intellectual property rights by ensuring physical and network security.

"We have 133 controls in place that help mitigate risks to a product. The ISO standard also provides for alternate back-up systems for a product in the case of a natural disaster," said a company executive.

R Systems had recently tied up with Aisel to take care of the Japanese company's outsourced software development needs. According to the agreement Aisel in return would help R Systems meet its project management and coordination needs in Japan and the far eastern countries.

The deal, which also included a share swap involved R Systems taking up to 15 per cent stake in Aisel and

Aisel acquiring 5 per cent stake in R Systems through issuance of new shares at Rs 250 per share.
