The Railways earned approximately Rs 1919.66 crore as originating revenue during August 10 to 20 as compared to Rs 1707.43 crore in the corresponding period last year, thus registering an increase of 12.43 per cent.
While the total goods earning showed an increase of 9.10 per cent with an earning of Rs 1275.38 crore during August 11 to 20, passenger revenue earning during the said period also rose by 19.96 per cent with earnings of Rs 584.77 crore during the period, according to a released issued by the Railways.
Similarly, approximate number of passengers booked during the period from July 11 to 20 was 19.89 crore as compared to 18.1 crore during the same period last year, thereby showing an increase of 9.86 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during August 11 to 20 was 10.83 crore and 9.06 crore respectively.
This was an increase of 3.70 per cent and 18.27 per cent respectively when compared to the bookings registered during the corresponding period last year.
