Satyam Computer Services’ founder-head, B Ramalinga Raju, taken from jail to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences following complaint of chest pain, is now being treated for a heart attack.

He was brought to the hospital on Monday evening and various tests done. The reports, ready by last night, indicated he had a heart attack, according to the resident medical officer, Chandrasekhar. Copies of the reports have been sent to the Chanchalguda Central Jail, his custodians. Raju has been imprisoned since January 9, after he confessed to a massive accounting fraud at Satyam.

Raju is being treated at the intensive coronary care unit. “Whether an operation is needed or not would be a decided by a team of doctors who are attending on Raju,” the RMO said.

Doctors said Raju, who is also suffering from Hepatitis-C, has his liver enzymes elevated. The treatment for Hepatitis-C is most often associated with some side-effects and is also time-consuming.
