Textile and apparel manufacturer Raymond Ltd is targeting the low-priced fabric segment of the garments market to boost sales volumes, a senior company official said.
"We have been looking at a major foray in the economy section of the fabric segment for quite some time," Raymond President (Textiles) Aniruddha Deshmukh said.
He said the company had launched 'Makers', a ready-to-stitch brand targeting the economy section of the population.
Deshmukh said that 75% of the Indian garment industry was in the unorganised sector.
The size of the organised sector was around Rs 6,000 crore, out of which Raymond was eyeing 10% in the first year.
Makers would be distributed through multi-brand outlets and not in Raymond shops.
