Reliance Communications today appointed former Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh as President and Chief Executive Officer of its wireless business, which provides and manages mobile telephony services.
Singh had quit Aircel in January this year.
The positions at RCom were lying vacant after Syed Safawi left the company in February.
The Anil Ambani group company in a statement said that Singh will also be a member of Reliance Management Board.
"I am delighted to be a part of the Reliance Group and look forward to an exciting journey in taking Reliance Communications Wireless Business to greater heights," Singh said.
Singh has around 29 years of experience in sectors like telecom, home appliances and consumer electronics.
He has also worked in Hutch (Now Vodafone) as Director – Operations, North, for about 5 years.
Shares of RComm were trading at Rs 62.95, down by 4.55% over the previous close at the BSE in afternoon session. PTI PRS
