Anil Ambani group company Reliance Communications (RCom) has approached telecom tribunal TDSAT, seeking a stay on the disconnection notice issued by state-owned BSNL for its Gujarat circle over non payment of dues.

BSNL had asked RCom to pay Rs 33.39 crore as Interconnect Usage Charge (IUC) for August 2005 to February 2006 period. However, following the non-payment, it issued notice to the ADAG group firm on September 7, 2010. The bill also included interest of Rs 6.83 crore.

RCom's plea was listed before the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal, which asked BSNL to file a reply within a week.

In its notice, BSNL said that it would disconnect RCom from its Point of Interconnection (PoI), if the money was not paid by October 1.

The dispute between BSNL and RCom is over interconnect charge.

PoI between two operators is must for subscribers to make and receive calls from different networks.
