The company launched three monthly pre-paid plans in the price range of Rs 97, Rs 147 and Rs 197. The plans are designed for Reliance to Reliance voice calls anywhere in the country, as well as Reliance to other networks along with voice and unlimited 2G data plans.
According to Gurdeep Singh, CEO- Consumer Business, Reliance Communications, the plans were being launched for the Gujarat market and were designed based on consumer survey.
"We found that Gujarat customers have a blend of literacy, awareness and mobility. Hence, they look for value for money. This plan takes away the necessity to recharge repeatedly and bring in ease-of-use to RComm users with Unlimited voice and data plan," said Singh.
Talking about the rationale behind the launch, Singh said, "With this plan we look to increase the pace of net additions of subscribers in Gujarat. These are innovative and disruptive plans. We hope to get large part of subscribers from our competition through Mobile Number Portability (MNP)."
The company currently serves 2.5 million customers through 3,600 cell sites across the state.
Apparently, Gujarat has higher consumption both in data (2G and 3G) and voice than all India average.
