Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has posted a rise of 48.68 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2009 at Rs 474.07 crore compared with Rs 318.85 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company's income from operations rose to Rs 1653.2 crore from Rs 1233.77 crore last year, up 34 per cent.
The company's total expenditure during the quarter stood at Rs 1061.66 crore against Rs 801.20 crore last year during the same quarter.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company's shares were trading at Rs 254.40, up 0.95 per cent at IST 1318.
