Regency Ceramics is setting up the Regency Research Academy of Film and Television (RRAFT) at Yanam, Pondicherry. Though belonging to Pondicherry, Yanam is near Kakinada in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.G N Naidu, chairman and managing director of Regency, said RRAFT was expected to start courses from January 2007. The Pondicherry government has sanctioned the institute 40 seats each for acting, direction and screenplay, motion picture photography and video photography, sound engineering and recording, and cinema editing and video editing. Being set up in 16 acres, the film institute would also have a three-star hotel.Naidu said Regency was currently working out the level of investments involved besides looking for funds. RRAFT also proposes to produce a feature film and a weekly or daily television serial to project the creative skills of its students.
