Regus eyes India for flexible workplaces market

Company has opened its 1500th biz centre in Pune and mulls to open 5 more such centres across India by Aug 2013

Luxembourg based provider of flexible and mobile workplaces, Regus has opened its 1500th business centre worldwide in Pune which will cater especially to all sized IT and ITES companies.

The company is planning to open five more new business centres across India by August 2013.

The centre includes ready-to-use offices, business lounge, meeting space, video communication lounge, and high-speed secure internet throughout.

There is multilingual reception and administrative support as well.

Commenting on this, Madhusudan Thakur, regional vice president, South Asia, Regus said, "India is a key growth market for Regus and our customers. Therefore, We will open five more new business centres across India by August 2013 to cater to the growing demand for our flexible and mobile work stations. Two of these business centres will be launched in Noida and one each in Gurgaon, Bangalore and Mumbai. Currently, 70 per cent of our business centres are used by small, medium and large local companies and only 30 per cent by the multinational firms. In India, our business is growing by 50 per cent.

According to Thakur, global mobile workers and professionals were estimated at 1.2 billion at present, Indian market accounted for 176 million. A dedicated work place in a campus set up will cost about Rs 6,000 - 7,000 per month. Regus had also opened a total of 13 business centres across India in the 10,000 - 15,000 sq ft size, including Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune.

He added, "As ever, Regus is going to the locations that matter to companies and staff. Not just the high-profile Indian cities like Mumbai, but the other places where local and international businesses are congregating - Pune is a perfect example. Our presence in these locations helps businesses to grow their footprint, improve their efficiency, recruit talent, and work productively."

Regus facilities spread across a global footprint of 1,500 locations in 600 cities and 99 countries, which allow individuals and companies to work wherever, however and whenever they want to. Regusis headquartered in Luxembourg and listed on the London Stock Exchange. It is on track to achieve a network of at least 2,000 business centres globally by 2014.
