Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure has been empanelled as the information technology implementation agency with state-run Power Finance Corp for deeper computerisation at State Electricity Boards.
"We are confident that our rich experience and expertise in the field would definitely be of great help to the SEBs and enhance their overall operational performance, efficiency and profitability," Reliance Infra CEO Lalit Jalan said.
Earlier, Reliance Infra has been empanelled as an IT consultant by diversified business house ITC.
Ministry of Power through PFC had envisioned adoption of IT initiatives in various SEBs, for which it had allocated Rs 10,000 crore.
The SEBs would be initially getting funds out of this allocation as loans and subsequently, on successful completion of the defined objectives like establishing the baseline data for Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses through IT implementation, the same would be converted into a grant.
