Reliance Fresh, the branded retail chain of fresh vegetable and grocery stores from Reliance Retail Ltd (RRL), has shut down its three stores in Nashik. Moreover, the company has also curtailed its manpower at its other six existing stores in the city by 40 per cent.

Around 200 people, who were working in Reliance Fresh stores, have lost their jobs due to closure of its three stores and curtailment at its other six existing stores in Nashik.

With the closure of three stores, Reliance Fresh has now six stores in different parts of the city, including Nashik Road, Jail Road, Bodhale Nagar, Mahatma Nagar and Meri.

Reliance Fresh had opened nine stores in Nashik during the calendar years 2007 and 2008.

But within two years, the company has shut down its 3 stores in Nashik due to poor response from consumers. These three stores were located at Canada Corner, Indira Nagar and Cidco areas of the city.

"We have closed down three Reliance Fresh stores in Nashik due to poor response from consumers. The decision was part of the company’s policy to close down unviable retail stores," sources told Business Standard.
