Reliance Info CEO's job may go to insider

Reliance Infocomm president (wireless services and products) S P Shukla and Reliance WebWorld chief executive officer Sarup Chowdhary have emerged as front-runners for the post of chief executive officer of the company.

A sources close to the development said Infocomm chairman and managing director Anil Ambani felt that there was a "huge talent and potential available within the company and there was need to look for talent outside."

Infocomm now does not have a chief executive officer, as the acting CEO (wireless business), Kamal P Nanavati, is moving back to Reliance Industries. Nanavati was heading RIC, along with certain textile businesses of RIL.

The names doing rounds in the industry earlier were that of Hutchison managing director Asim Ghosh, deputy managing director Sandip Das, Bharti Enterprises' joint managing director Akhil Gupta, and former Hutchison Max CEO Ashwini Windlass.

Meanwhile, Infocomm today reconstituted its board with the appointment of Anil D Ambani as its chairman and managing director, and Gautam Doshi and J Ramachandran as directors.

Doshi is a Chartered Accountant, while Ramachandran is a professor with the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

The five directors who had resigned from the board earlier, after the formal announcement of the settlement, were Anand Jain, Manoj Modi, Bharat Goenka, Y P Trivedi and M P Modi.
