Reliance Info finetuning price strategy

Reliance Infocomm is planning to introduce new packages for handsets, aimed at representing all price points, said Kaushik Roy, head-marketing.
 
Roy said, the company would endeavour to reduce entry barrier for subscribers. At present, the handset packages were at upwards of Rs 3,500, albeit the best seller was between Rs 4,500-6,000 range.
 
However, Roy clarified that the new package would not necessarily be priced lower than the existing packages, but would strive to cover all the price points in the post paid and prepaid categories.
 
Another driver for the customers would be value. Data-enabled service would be the other major driver for growth.
 
Roy, yesterday announced its first-ever Bengali movie promotion by Reliance India Mobile Showtime, Waarish.
 
The tie-up would undertake 360 degree promotional activities involving Rworld, the in-built multimedia data suite of Reliance India Mobile, Reliance WebWorld, SMS of Reliance India Mobile and prominent outdoor blitz.
 
Roy said, there was no revenue sharing arrangement between Reliance and the film for this tie-up.
 
Rworld, it may be mentioned, was free for its subscribers till June-end, after which it would be reviewed. Rworld offered a range of applications""news updates, video streaming, downloadable multi-lingual ring tones, seasonal updates, city and TV guide, exam results, astrology and stock prices.
 
Khurshed Ahmed, head-West bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand circles said, "We have been able to bring in a new era of infotainment, thanks to our technologically superior mobile applications and the real broadband infrastructure."
 
In Kolkata, the subscriber base was at 4.5 lakh. Prepaid in Kolkata and adjoining areas was at 70,000. On a national scale Reliance was adding 4.5 lakh prepaid subscribers each month. The total subscriber base was at 70 lakh.
