Reliance plans new retail format

After the launch of its third retail format, RelianceMart, Reliance Retail is planning to launch its fourth format in the form of a town centre. The company intends to launch around 700 Reliance Town Centres (RTCs) in the country within an unspecified period.
 
Talking about the town centres, Raghu Pillai, president and chief executive, operations and strategy, Reliance Retail, said, "The town centres will be spread across an area of 60,000 sq ft to 2,00,000 sq ft and will be set up in cities with a population of less than 3 lakhs."
 
According to K Radhakrishnan, CEO, hypermarkets, Reliance Retail, the town centres will feature almost everything that a small town needs, including malls, multiplexes, health centres, vocational training centres, among others. "The first of these town centres will be launched in Delhi by the end of the year," Radhakrishnan added.
 
With the company launching its in-house brands such as First Class, Network, Netplay, TeamSpirit and Sparsh in the apparels category at RelianceMart, these brands will now feature at the company's speciality stores as well. Pillai said the company was planning to launch speciality stores in apparels, health and wellness and footwear categories soon.
 
The company also launched in-house brands such as DNM-X in the jeans category, Panda in kids clothing, Grip in luggage category and brands such as Zig, Hi Attitude, Tosco and Monza in the footwear category.
