The Reliance town centres, spread over an area of 6-10 acres, will not only boast incorporating all the 13 operational verticals of the Reliance Retail chain but would also have multiplexes.
According to sources, the towns chosen for setting up of RTCs are Pathankot, Batala, Bhatinda, Amritsar, Ferozpur among others.
"The RTCs would be constructed using pre-fabricated structure and the company has assigned the contract to an American company. The construction of RTC in Punjab is likely to begin in another three months and would be ready in another 6-9 months," the source adds.
The opening of Reliance town centre is in accordance with the Reliance's plan to invest Rs 25,000 crore in retail stores in the next five years. The source adds that RRL's investment in Punjab would be close to Rs 800 crore.
Reliance is also planning to set up RTCs in Haryana and Panchkula. The Company's RTC may be the first RTC in the tricity (Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula). Places identified for setting up of RTC in Haryana are Karnal, Hisar, Rohtak and Panipat. The company is planning to investment over Rs 500 crore on RTCs in the state.

Reliance town centres would also come up in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Orissa.
RRL is also in the process of rolling out more retail formats in Punjab that includes Reliance i store (which would house the entire range of Apple products) is coming up in Ludhiana by mid next month. The company also plans to launch Reliance Footprint store in Ludhiana and Jallandhar in the near future.
