Reliance Infocomm has proposed to offer three new tariff plans for its wireless in local loop (WLL)-limited mobility subscribers with local call charges ranging between Re 1 and Rs 1.99 a minute and STD rates between Rs 1.90 and Rs 4 a minute.

The reworked tariffs are nearly 150 per cent higher than the existing calls between two WLL phones at 40 paise a minute.

The three plans are in addition to the existing Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer, which offers calls between two WLL phones at 40 paise a minute.

Under the new plans, customers will pay rentals of Rs 249, Rs 348 and Rs 399 a month, depending on the scheme they opt for, instead of Rs 600 a month under the Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer scheme.

The new tariff plans were submitted to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) for clearance last week. Trai had earlier objected to the 40 paise a minute tariff proposed by Reliance.

The new schemes propose to do away with some freebies because users will have to pay 50 paise for an SMS and Rs 50 a month for accessing the service provider
