The Tata Steel management and the Tata Workers' Union have signed a memorandum of settlement, on the basis of which a monthly amount of interim relief would be paid to the employees of Steel Works and Tubes division pending finalization of wage revision. |
The memorandum was signed in the presence of Ram Pravesh Singh, deputy labour commissioner, Jharkhand government. |

The settlement would cover all permanent employees (workers and supervisors) of the company at Jamshedpur, including tubes division, who were on the rolls as on December 31, 2006 and continue to be on the rolls as on the date of settlement. |

This also covers the employees who were appointed on the permanent rolls after December 31, 2006 and were also on the permanent rolls as on the date of the settlement. |

The employees would be paid the interim relief and adhoc amount towards increment depending on their respective basic salary. The interim relief and the adhoc amount would also be considered for provident fund and Tisco Employees' Pension Scheme (TEPS). |

However it will not be counted for any other purposes like gratuity, leave encashment, annual bonus, HRA and would not be paid for the duration of leave without pay or unauthorized absence or suspension from duty. |

The charter of demands submitted by the union to the company for wage settlement would be discussed and finalized between the company and the union within four months from the date of the settlement. |
