Renault India Managing Director Sylvain Bilaine said, the new ILN facility will help Renault's ancillary manufacturing companies expand their business to India. The new facility spread over 40,000 sqft was inaugurated by Pune member of parliament Suresh Kalmadi. Speaking to reporters after the event, Bilaine said, "We have concrete business plans for Indian market and and within next 5 years, India will be a strong contributors to Renault's global business.
While the needs of Indian automotive buyers will be addressed through our product range, Renault will leverage enormous strengths of Indian auto components manufacturing sector to develop a strong supplier and logistics base from India to support its global operations."
The company expects to source components worth Rs 1,350 crore manufactured by Indian companies globally for various Renault plants by 2009. Renault is already producing Logan, a sedan with Mahindra and Mahindra and has sold more than 29,000 cars in just over one year. The company is setting up a fully integrated manufacturing facility with Nissan Motors in Chennai to deliver 4,00,000 cars annually.
