REpower Systems AG, a Suzlon group company informed the National Stock Exchange today about the inauguration of a new technology centre in Germany on August 25. The centre will bring together 470 employees from the research and development and technical support and services functions, earlier spread across different offices.
REpower Systems AG manufactures onshore and offshore wind turbines and currently has a global fleet of more than 2,500 wind turbines. The company develops, produces and markets wind turbines with rated outputs of 2.05 mega watt to 6.15 mega watt and rotor diameters of 82 metres to 126 metres.
The technology centre, spread over an area 11,700 square metres, has been constructed by Max Bögl Bauunternehmung GmbH. Along with the research and development activities, the service and maintenance of onshore and offshore turbines globally will be handled from this centre.
On the inauguration of this new technology centre, Tulsi R Tanti, Chairman of the REpower supervisory board said, "This facility will play a key role in building our capabilities, products and service offerings."
After the announcement, the shares of Suzlon Energy lost Rs 0.55, or 1.18 per cent while the Sensex, too, was down 186.51. The share was trading at Rs 46.10.
