"The Punjab government has been successful in roping in Reliance Industries to construct a multi specialty hospital in Amritsar, and the project has got in principle nod to be set it up in the holy city," a source in RIL said. |

"The purposed Rs 450 crore project will have multi speciality facilities and a trauma centre with at least 350 beds," sources said adding that the land for the project has not been earmarked as yet but it is most likely to be situated near Kotla Pandori on the Amritsar-Jalandhar highway, the company had demanded at least 450 acres of land. |

The hospital would be setup with an eye on patients of not only the state and surrounding areas but also from whole central Asia, adding that sources revealed, "Amritsar is most suitable for the project as it has an international airport." |

At present, Amritsar has Government Medical College, Civil Hospital, and Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, besides a dental and ayurvedic college. |
