Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) today said it has commissioned three new 220kV extra high voltage (EHV) substations in the western suburbs to strengthen Mumbai transmission grid.
These EHV substations, which have been set up at Goregaon, Gorai and Saki, will help in significantly reducing losses and cope with the increasing demand for electricity in the metropolis, a press release issued here said.
"We are committed to create world-class transmission network for Mumbai to meet its growing infrastructure needs. We would endeavour to ensure timely capacity additions for evacuation of power to facilitate all around growth of the city," the company's CEO and Whole-Time Director Lalit Jalan said.
With the addition of these three, the company now has six EHV substations that would meet the growing power needs of the city, he said.
RInfra has three EHV substations at Ghodbunder, Aarey Colony and Versova, the release said.
"The new three EHV substations will not only ease the congestion in availability of high tension outlets to distribution utilities but also bring relief to the intrastate power transmission system as it would help in significantly enhancing the reliability, reducing losses, match to the increasing demand and reaching near to the consumers," Jalan added.
