Wind electric generator manufacturer RRB Energy is planning to set up a facility to manufacture fabrications and towers with an investment of around Rs 90 crore.
The company has acquired 20 acres of land at the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Sipcot) to set up the facility.
“So far we have been procuring from outside,” said SD Singh, president, RRB Energy. The unit would help them become a self-contained company, he added.
Meanwhile, RRB has launched an indigenously-made prototype blade for its 1.8 Mw wind electric generator. The company has invested around Rs 60 crore in the Poonamallee facility in Thiruvallur district and is planning to invest another Rs 15 crore.
RRB has established around 1,000 Mw of installed wind power capacity in the country, said deputy managing director Sarvesh Kumar.
The company expects its turnover to increase to around Rs 2,000 crore by 2011-12 from the current Rs700 crore, on the back of new measures.
“We will also look at an initial public offering in 2011-12 to fund our expansion and to support the business target,” said Singh adding they might also raise money from private equity.
