Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has posted robust performance in many key areas of production during the April-February period of 2009-10, which is best ever for any financial year since its inception.
Taking into account the April-February period of the current fiscal, RSP recorded an output of 20,60, 658 tonnes of hot metal; 19,34,731 tonnes of total crude steel and 6,92,260 tonnes of hot rolled coils. This marks a growth of 2.3 per cent for hot metal, 1.4 per cent for crude steel and 3.4 per cent in hot rolled coils over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
In the April-February period of 2009-10, RSP also posted a growth of 3.8 per cent in sinter production, 1.7 per cent in galvanized steel and 3.2 per cent in cold rolled non-oriented (CRNO) steel over the same period of the previous fiscal. RSP also achieved a coke rate of 535 kg per tonne of hot metal, average Blast Furnace productivity of 1.414 tonnes per metre cube per day, coal to hot metal ratio of 0.974 and specific energy consumption of 6.99 giga calories per tonne of crude steel .
