Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India (SAIL), has recorded all time high production of Hot Metal, Crude Steel and Saleable Steel in May since its inception.
Hot Metal, Crude Steel Output and Saleable Steel output stood at 2,00,079 tonnes, 1,89,451 tonnes and 1,68,567 tonnes with growth of 115.1 percent, 115.2 percent and 119.4 percent respectively.
With this, the April- May production has reached a new high of 3,84,742 tonnes of Hot Metal, 3,65,797 tonnes of Crude Steel and 3,33,578 tonnes of Saleable Steel. The capacity utilization of respective units was 115.1 percent, 115.2 percent and 119.4 percent, said a company release.
The finishing units of RSP also performed with distinction during April & May registering growth over the corresponding period of last fiscal with Hot Rolled Coils for sale at 1,17,707 tonnes (5.7%); Hot Rolled Plates at 55,482 tonnes (17.2%), Electric Resistance Weld (ERW) Pipes at 10,734 tonnes (19.5%); Cold Rolled Sheets/ Coils at 22,960 tonnes (8%); and CRNO steel at 13,360 tonnes (7.9%).
