Aiming to increase its share in the field of fancy yarns for apparels, technical textiles, sewing threads, medical textiles and denim market in West India, Rajasthan Spinning & Weaving Mills Limited (RSWM) is mulling to set up a yarn manufacturing plant in Gujarat in next three years. Part of the Rs 5, 500 crore LNJ Bhilwara Group, RSWM recently forayed in the state with a yarn marketing office to tap the Gujarat market further.
"We have been already supplying yarn to several clients in Gujarat including Arvind Ltd., Dinesh Mills and Soma Textiles. However, we intend to grow by more than 50 per cent in our business in Gujarat for which we have set up an office in Ahmedabad. However, in next three years we may set up a yarn plant in Gujarat," said JC Laddha, chief executive - yarn business and executive director of RSWM.
According to Laddha, the company is investing around Rs 1,000 crore in next three years in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh as part of its expansion plans.
In Gujarat, RSWM currently does a business of Rs 100 crore for the fiscal year 2011-12. However, for the fiscal 2012-13, the company is expecting to peg a turnover of over Rs 150 crore from Gujarat alone.
"The new regional yarn marketing office will serve customers in Ahmedabad and nearby weaving centers. While RSWM was already selling yarns in the Ahmedabad region, the new marketing office was aimed at boosting its interface with consumers for offering specialty products and weaving their feedback into product innovation and the supply chain," Laddha added.
The company has eight manufacturing locations in Rajasthan with an installed capacity of 400,000 spindles, producing grey as well as dyed yarn and also produces specialty yarns for technical fabrics, sewing threads, carpets and tents.
