Sahara sues Bradford for contempt

Sahara filed the contempt of court petition in the court of Justice P C Ghosh for alleged violation of the earlier order passed by Justice Ghosh, who had in his order dated May 12 directed Bradford to give an undertaking in a form of an affidavit stating that she would pay damages to Sahara TV.

 
In the contempt of court petition, it was alleged that she failed to file such an affidavit in terms of the court's order.

 
Bradford and her husband jointly filed the suit for copyright infringement against Sahara TV and its associates and obtained a stay of the telecast of the serial.

 
Bradford alleged that the serial was based on her novel, 'A woman of substance' without permission.

 
The division bench of Calcutta High Court vacated stay of telecast which was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
