A Pune-based construction firm Sahil Resorts is coming up with Asia's largest five-star hotel and ayurvedic spa near Alibaug at a cost of Rs 50 crore. |
Speaking to Business Standard, Vinay Phadnis, chairman and managing director of Sahil Resorts, Agrifields and Farms Pvt Ltd, said, "Despite Alibaug being such a popular tourist destination for Mumbaiites and Puneites, there is no five-star facility available here. We have decided to build a five-star hotel and spa here." |
He further said, "The spa will have 120 rooms with the ambience of a Konkani set up. There will also be a 9-hole mini golf course and a well laid out cricket pitch for our guests." |
Phadnis added that besides ayurvedic therapies, Thai and Swedish therapies will be offered to customers. Tie up with an international chain is on cards. For ayurvedic therapies, the hotel has tied up with famous ayurvedacharya Shrikant Bagiwadekar. |
He also said, "this facility will be ready by August next year to coincide the next year's tourist season. In the first year of its operations, we have kept the target of attracting at least 30,000 customers." |
There are also plans to offer a catamaran ride from Gateway of India, which will take customers to Alibaug within 30 minutes. This means that people with office in south Mumbai can board the catamaran on Friday evening, spend weekend at the spa and straightaway reach office on Monday morning in a rejuvenated mood, Phadnis claimed. |
The group is running a small resort of 30 rooms with spa near Tungarli lake at Lonavala, constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore, and plans to start resorts at Goa and Bhutan, Phadnis said. |
