Italian tractor and agriculture equipment maker, Same Deutz-Fahr, today said it expects to ramp up sales by over 65 per cent during the year to 5,800 units in India.
The company is also targeting to increase revenue by nearly 90 per cent to Rs 550 crore in 2010.
"The demand for our products are gradually increasing and we expect good growth this year. We are targeting to sell 5,800 units of tractors in 2010," Same Deutz-Fahr (SDF) India Head (Marketing and Exports) Gopal Krishna told PTI.
SDF India sells various models between 35 horsepower and 80 horsepower categories under two brands -- Same and Deutz-Fahr.
The company had an overall sales of 3,500 units last year, he added.
"Last year, we sold about 1,900 units in the domestic market... We expect to continue the same ratio between domestic and export sales," Krishna said, adding the company exports its products to almost all countries across the world.
The company has a manufacturing facility at Ranipet, near Chennai, with an installed capacity of 6,000 units per annum in a single shift.
Asked about the revenue, Krishna said: "Last year the Indian operations contributed about Rs 290 crore. This year we are targeting to cross Rs 550 crore."
The 876.4-million Euro Italy-based firm had last year introduced its premium brand Deutz-Fahr in the Indian tractor market, which is pegged at over 3 lakh units annually.
Initially the company had manufactured tractors at its India plant only for the export markets and later started selling the products here.
